Selfless service is not what we do — it is who we are. Join us in making a tangible difference in Thailand.
The word seva (सेवा) means selfless service — action taken without expectation of personal gain, done purely out of love for others and dedication to dharma. For HSS, seva is not a programme. It is a fundamental expression of who we are.
Our swayamsevaks — volunteers — give freely of their time, energy, and resources throughout the year. Whether it is distributing food to those in need, supporting education for underprivileged children, or responding to emergencies, HSS Thailand is always ready to serve.
We believe that a community which serves is a community that thrives. Every act of seva, however small, strengthens the fabric of our society.
"He who serves the most, lives the most. Seva is not charity — it is the recognition that the divine lives in every being we serve."— Inspired by Swami Vivekananda
Anna Seva (food service) is among our oldest and most consistent seva activities. HSS Thailand volunteers prepare and distribute meals to underprivileged communities, homeless individuals, and families in need across Bangkok. We run food distribution drives during major Hindu festivals — Diwali, Navratri, and Holi — as well as on a regular monthly basis. Every meal served is an act of devotion, honouring the belief that feeding the hungry is feeding the divine.
Access to quality education is foundational to lifting communities out of poverty. HSS Thailand supports underprivileged children through school supply drives, tutoring assistance, and scholarship support. We partner with local schools and NGOs to identify children who need help and connect them with resources. Our volunteers also run free English and Hindi language classes open to the community.
When disaster strikes, swayamsevaks are among the first to respond. HSS Thailand has mobilised volunteers and resources during flooding events across Thailand, providing emergency food packets, clean water, and essential supplies to affected communities regardless of their religion or background. Our motto during relief operations is simple: whoever needs help first, gets help first.
In partnership with medical professionals within our community, HSS Thailand organises periodic free health check-up camps offering blood pressure screening, blood sugar testing, and basic health consultations. We also promote mental wellness through yoga sessions and wellness workshops open to the broader public.
We believe dharmic living includes responsibility towards the natural world. HSS Thailand organises community clean-up drives, tree-planting initiatives, and awareness campaigns around environmental sustainability. Caring for the earth — Bhumi Mata — is seva too.
As a minority community in Thailand, we are committed to being good citizens and good neighbours. HSS Thailand participates in local community events, collaborates with Thai cultural organisations, and supports initiatives that build understanding and goodwill between the Hindu community and our Thai hosts.
